Get crunk! Get energized! Is what this energy drink is created for. Crunk was co-created and launched in 2004 by Sidney Frank, creator of Grey Goose Vodka and Lil’ Jon, rap artist and producer. Crunk currently has three different types of energy drink, regular, sugar-free and citrus.

The most noticeable flavor is pomegranate which is a fruit originated in the middle east, the light-pink carbonated energy juice has a nice sourness and a light-bitter-sour aftertaste. The energy juice is easy to drink and goes down smooth. The juice from pomegranate is rich in antioxidants which are known to promote blood flow to the heart, raise the good cholesterol while helping lower the bad cholesterol, and fight certain forms of cancer.

Energy is boosted by B-vitamins, caffeine, L-carnitine, green tea, guarana, inositol, horny goat weed, ashwaganda, milk thistle, white willow, skullcap and panax ginseng. Ashwaganda is a shrub that belongs to the tomato family, its fruits, leaves and seeds have been traditionally used as aphrodisiacs, diuretics and for treating memory loss. Horny goat weed is a herbal plant native to China and is known for its aphrodisiac qualities. Skullcap is a herb used for quieting nervous tension, and easing muscle tension and spasms.

Crunk’s energy rush took longer to kick in but lasted longer than most energy drinks. After 2 hours of drinking the energy drink, I could still felt its energy effects. This energy drink gave me minor side effects, such as increase of breathing and heart rate. The caffeine rush was more intense than some of the energy drinks I reviewed. The side effects is nothing major but I suggest drinking this energy drink on a semi-full stomach to reduce the effects.

The original Crunk is better than most of the energy drinks I reviewed, its taste is decent but its energy level is amazing for a 8.3 fl. oz. drink. If you are planning long road trips, bring a few Crunk with you because it will keep you up for hours.
